The image policy of the Lunar Chronicles Wiki is a set of guidelines explaining the proper uploading, use, and deletion of images.
Content[]
Types of images[]
The following two types of images can be added to the wiki:
- Official and semi-official images: book covers, book-related marketing images, Lunar Chronicles-based product images and other images approved by Marissa Meyer and posted on her blog.
- Fanarts: character images, maps and other Lunar Chronicles-related fan-made artworks
Images not related to the Lunar Chronicles series, especially images from other fandoms, are prohibited and will be removed.
Content restriction[]
It should be remembered that people are able to use Wikia's systems freely from the age of 13. As such, uploaded images should not contain (non-figleafed) nudity, gratuitous foul language, excessive gore, or other content that could be considered unsuitable for younger users, or that would be likely to disturb or offend other users.
An administrator may delete such pictures at any time, without warning.
Format[]
File extensions[]
There are several file extensions that can be uploaded to the wiki, with the most common being .JPG and .PNG. Animated .GIFs are disallowed due to their lack of purpose and distractive quality. If a still image is insufficient to illustrate the text it accompanies, then one should consider rewriting the text to better convey the intended message.
Quality[]
The images should be of the highest quality available. In the case of duplicate images, the highest quality image is kept. Replacing (overwriting an image) can take place when the original file is of low resolution/quality. In this case, the original picture must be replaced by exactly the same version with better quality.
Copyrights[]
Every copyrighted image on Lunar Chronicles Wiki is under the auspices of the fair use doctrine of the United States Fair use law. This means that they are used for informational/educational purposes, meant to identify the subject of an article and to illustrate something directly relevant to the text in its immediate vicinity.
Sourcing[]
All images must have clear information as to where the images come from. To source an image correctly, the uploader needs to go to the page of the image itself, write the credits in the description and add the proper licensing template. Images may be deleted if it isn't sourced properly.
Alteration[]
Copyrighted images must remain unaltered. Changing colors, adding watermarks, text, or making montages that corrupt the copyright owners' original work is considered to be an infringement, thus the image will be deleted.
