Nainsi is one of the supporting characters in The Lunar Chronicles.
History
Nainsi was Kai's tutor android when he was a child, and was Kai's first android. He claims that he shared many happy memories with Nainsi, which is why he wanted her fixed as soon as possible, but this was a cover to disguise the fact that she contained information on the whereabouts of Princess Selene.
Recent events
In the beginning of Cinder, Kai hired Cinder to fix a broken Nainsi and hinted to Cinder that she contained important information. Later in the novel, it is revealed that Nainsi had been used for Kai's research on Princess Selene.
In Scarlet, Nainsi becomes Kai's personal royal android during his reign as Emperor of the Eastern Commonwealth.
Characteristics
Physical attributes
Despite her many years, Nainsi's is described as looking like she "had just stepped off the conveyor belt" and in "pristine condition" by Cinder. She is described as having a "mock-feminine shape," however, which is an outdated model. Her body is insinuated to be plastic, and Cinder further describes Nainsi as having a sleek design along with "a spherical head atop a pear-shaped body and a glossy white finish."
Trivia
- In the audiobook version of Cinder, Nainsi is pronounced practically the same as the common English name, Nancy.[1]
